SUSAN JAFFE, AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE REHEARSAL: INT’L PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS WINNER
My series, “Susan Jaffe, American Ballet Theatre Rehearsal,” was awarded second place by the International Photography Awards this year (Event/Professional). I had the once in a lifetime opportunity of photographing Susan Jaffe rehearsing her new choreography, “Blue Pas de Deux,” with Veronika Part and Thomas Forster for opening night of the American Ballet Theatre’s 2012 gala. Just being in the same room with these master dancers while they worked together was an honor.
The New York Times calls Susan Jaffe, “America’s Quintessential American Ballerina.” She was a principal dancer with American Ballet Theatre for 20 years after Mikhail Baryshnikov, ABT’s Artistic Director at the time, pulled her out of the corps de ballet.
